Keeping SEO and PPC separate is a mistake. You’re missing out on a ton of reliable data that can be used for SEO to gain the long-term benefits of free and passive search traffic from Google and YouTube.
The first use case is to find keywords that result in conversions.
Not every keyword you bid on or rank for is going to result in customers. But Google Ads has a conversion tracking feature that lets you attribute an action on your website to a keyword.
How do you use this feature to find keywords that convert well? You’ll learn how in the video.
The next use case is to find keyword opportunities and pages that can benefit from on-page optimizations.
According to Google, 15% of queries they see every day have never been seen before. That means billions of queries are going unnoticed and if Google doesn’t even know them, then third-party keyword research tools probably won’t either.
How do you use this knowledge to find keyword opportunities? Watch the video to find out.
The next use case is to improve click-through rates on your organic search result.
It’s widely believed that a higher click-through rate can lead to improved rankings. But even if it doesn’t, more clicks equals more visitors.
Now, since search ads allow you to manipulate the title and description, you can try different versions of ad copy to try and find a winning combination.
How do you do this? You’ll learn how in the video.
The next use case is to get backlinks by advertising for queries with “link intent.”
Some pages will naturally earn links consistently simply because they rank at the top of Google. And that’s one of the huge benefits to Google search ads. You can pay to have your page appear at the top of Google’s search results.
But you can’t just advertise for any keyword and expect it to lead to backlinks. Otherwise you’d burn through your budget with little to show.
So the goal is to earn backlinks at a reasonable cost, whatever that might be to you.
The best way to do that is to bid on queries that have so-called “link intent”, meaning, the people searching for the query are actually looking for resources to link to.

There’s four main pros of paid advertising. One, it can scale up as quick as you want. As you’re willing to spend more money, you get more traffic. You start a paid advertising campaign, you get that traffic today. Two, you can target any region that you want. With paid advertising, if you only do business in California, you can only do ads just in California, If you do business in a specific city, you can also have your ads only show up within that city. That’s a beautiful part about paid advertising. Three, you can leverage dayparting. Dayparting isn’t common, most people aren’t familiar with this and they’re not using this. But if you’re business is only around from 8 am to 5 pm, and let’s say you’re in the B to B industry, and you’re looking for phone calls, why would you want to pay for ads at 6 pm? Because if someone comes to your website, and they try calling you, no one’s going to be there to answer it. With dayparting, it allows you to pick what hours you want your ads to show up. The last thing you want to do, is be spending money during times that you’re not in business. The fourth thing, this is my favorite part about paid ads, is you can be very aggressive with your landing pages. With SEO, typically, pages that rank on the top of Google, are very long in content and they have roughly 2000 words. With pay-per-click, if you’re landing page has 2000 words, people aren’t really going to convert into a customer, or a lead, or a sale. They’re probably gonna read your content. That’s not what you want. You want them to buy, and that’s the beauty of pay-per-click. You can have a very aggressive landing page that focuses on your service, your offer, your product and you can get people to convert much higher from a percentage of how many visitors you’re getting to how many customers, than you can from SEO. With SEO, there’s a few advantages. One, even if you slow down on SEO, you can keep getting more traffic over time. That’s the beautiful part. With paid advertising, the moment you stop, so does your traffic. With SEO, if you slow down, all that traffic that you’ve built up, doesn’t go away. You can still maintain it and get it. Two, SEO traffic is free. And here’s what I mean by free, yes, it does take time or energy, or you may have to pay some people to help with link building or content, but it’s free because it’s so much cheaper and in general, you can do SEO yourself. You don’t have to pay an agency or firm to help you with SEO. You can learn it yourself, you can do it yourself and over time you’ll notice that your traffic goes up. And the third big benefit is, majority of people when they perform a search, click on the organic listings.

The ads will definitely give you the best results; here’s the reason why: because the advertiser is making an effort. They’re investing in Google Ads to put their product out to the relevant person. Now, I may have the best product in the world, but my organic rankings are pretty much zero. So I will not show up and in the search rankings or on the Google page one or page two or wherever, but if I’m running a Google Ads campaign, I know I’m within the top four, if I’m bidding properly and I’ve set up my campaigns the right way, I know for sure that my ads are going to be shown. So it will be seen by the person. So in that case, obviously the person who’s clicking does not get charged.
Obviously, the advertiser gets charged by Google. So unless the advertiser has a top-four ad ranking as well as an organic ranking, then yes they may have multiple links, but you will find that extremely rare that a company has got a very good online strategy where they are running paid ads as well as search engine optimization. So you’ll probably get one or the other. Now, who benefits? Well, actually it’s a win, win, win situation because when somebody like me and you are searching for a solution to our problem and we click on that on a link, be it organic or ads, I go to the landing page and that company gets that visitor.
But if I click on an ad, then that ad has been shown to me, for which I’m searching for, Google gets the money for that click and the advertiser pays for that click, but then the advertiser has got a very targeted audience on their landing page. So it’s a win, win, win situation as far as I can see! Everybody wins! And that’s why Google Ads is such a powerful way to drive traffic to your business or to sell your products or service.
